Summary of Grinding Basic Knowledge Ⅰ

Ⅰ. What are the types of mills and their salient features?
According to the different media of the mill, it can be divided into: if the media is steel ball, it is called ball mill. If the medium is steel rod, it is called rod mill. If the medium is gravel, it is called gravel mill. It is called autogenous mill with its own ore as medium. The so-called semi autogenous mill is formed by adding an appropriate amount of steel balls into the autogenous mill.
According to the shell shape and ore discharge method: the ball mill is divided into short tube, tube and cone overflow ore discharge and lattice ore discharge, the rod mill is divided into tube overflow ore discharge and open low-level ore discharge, and the autogenous or semi autogenous mill is mainly short tube.

Ⅱ. What is the grinding process of ore by grinding machine?
When the mill rotates at a certain speed, it produces centrifugal force, which makes the medium produce friction with the cylinder. When it rotates with the cylinder, when it reaches a certain height and its own gravity is greater than the centrifugal force, it will drop in the cylinder and smash the ore. At the same time, due to the sliding phenomenon in the medium, it also has grinding effect on the ore. Under the impact and grinding force of the medium, the ore is crushed.

Ⅲ. How many kinds of motion paths of medium in the mill?
There are three kinds of moving track: 1. Falling type (when running at low speed). 2. Drop type (at normal speed). 3. Centrifugal operation (the medium is consistent with the movement track of the cylinder).

Ⅳ. What are the types and characteristics of ball mills?
There are two kinds of ball mills commonly used in concentrators: grid type and overflow type. The difference between them is only that there is no fan-shaped grid plate device in the discharge part of overflow type. The slurry of overflow type ball mill is discharged automatically through the discharge port, while the grid type has the function of forced discharge because of the grid plate, so as to increase the processing capacity and reduce the over crushing of ore.

Ⅴ. What is the composition of the ball mill?
It is mainly composed of six parts: barrel part, feeding part, discharging part, transmission part, bearing part and lubrication system.

Ⅵ. What is the composition of the feeding part?
The feeding part is composed of an end cover of a hollow journal, a feeder and an inner sleeve of the journal.

Ⅶ. What are the types of feeders?
There are three types of feeders used in ball mill of concentrator: drum feeder, volute feeder and combined feeder.

Ⅷ. What is the composition of the ore discharging part? (grid type)
The ore discharging part is composed of the end cover of the hollow journal, the fan-shaped grid plate, the central lining plate and the inner sleeve of the journal.

Ⅸ. What are the characteristics of rod mill?
It comminutes the ore by the crushing and grinding action produced by the “line contact” of the steel bar. Therefore, it has selective crushing effect, reduces the over crushing of ore, and the product size is uniform.

Ⅹ. What are the technical indicators of the grinding classifier?
The technological indexes mainly include: grinding fineness, mill production capacity and operation rate, classification efficiency and grinding efficiency. The former is quality index and the latter is quantity index.
